Resolved Issues and Enhancements

The following is a list of issues addressed and enhancements implemented in this release.

Resolved Issues and Enhancements in 1.1.1

Feature Resolved Issue Defect ID
General Apache Cassandra preview data times out. ST11568
Apache Cassandra static super-columns appear in mapping tables and previewing data for a dynamic/static sub-table. ST11567

Resolved Issues and Enhancements in 1.1

Feature Resolved Issue Defect ID
General Cannot map HBase tables with subtables when the table name contains uppercase characters   ST11110

Known Issues

The following is a list of issues known to exist at the time of this release.

Feature Known Issue Defect ID
General Apache Cassandra databases must be configured to use an Order Preserving Partitioner in order to support range queries on the identifier column. ST11518

XML files remain on disk after uninstalling on Windows Vista and Windows 7 platforms.

Workaround:

Manually remove the XML files. The XML files and folders can be safely deleted after uninstallation of Toad for Cloud database. They are located in the Windows VirtualStore folder under %LOCALAPPDATA%.

ST10683
Map Tables Mapping Apache Cassandra tables with dynamic super columns whose names contain dynamic column names is not supported. ST11506
Copy Tables Toad for Cloud Databases copies data between databases in a single atomic operation. This approach is most efficient for small or medium sized tables, but is not always practical for large or massive data sets. Specifically, there is no way for Toad to provide feedback during the copy operation and – in the case of copies to relational databases – there may be significant demands on rollback/undo segments or transaction logs during the operation. ST10774
Dropping and Copying Apache Cassandra tables is not supported. ST11507

On copying a table from Azure to Azure the column "Timestamp" is updated to the copied date and time.

Note: The "Timestamp" column in an Azure table is automatically set to the modification time of the row and there is no way to modify this behavior.

ST10697

An operation to query / copy table takes too long. The data is queried and copied through the local data hub for the join.

Workaround:

Create a view in the data source to copy from.

ST10800

Note: There is no upgrade path to version 1.1.1. In particular, all mapped table information will be lost so re-map your tables after installing Toad for Cloud Databases 1.1.1.

Connecting to Cloud Databases

Connecting to HBase

Toad for Cloud Databases was developed and tested against HBase version 0.20.4.

  • Most functionality should work on HBase 0.20.0. However certain operations require HBase 0.20.4, in particular primary key lookups and range scans on subtables.
  • Toad for Cloud Databases uses the Stargate REST Connector to access the HBase instance. To start the Stargate connector, follow the directions in the Deployment section of the Stargate documentation.
